CEB operates first night flights at Laguindingan Airport The Philippines' leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), is the first carrier to operate scheduled night flights at the Laguindingan Airport in Cagayan de Oro, starting March 12, 2015.
CEB's flight 5J 211 arrives in Cagayan de Oro at 8:20 PM from Cebu. The return flight via 5J 212 departs Cagayan de Oro at 8:40PM, and arrives in Cebu at 9:35PM. CEB currently operates 13 daily flights to and from Cagayan de Oro via Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao. Navigational equipment for night operations had been installed at the Laguindingan Airport in November last year. After a series of technical reviews and consultations with relevant aviation authorities, including the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), the Laguindingan Airport has been declared ready to accommodate night flights. Laguindingan Airport is the main airport serving the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro, as well as the provinces of Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte, and the rest of the region of Northern Mindanao in the Philippines "CEB commends the government for successfully upgrading Laguindingan to a night-rated airport. We continue to look at our options for expanding services, and we look forward to serving even more passengers to boost trade and tourism in Northern Mindanao," said Candice Iyog, CEB Vice President for Marketing and Distribution. CEB subsidiary, Tigerair Philippines, is also set to operate night flights from Cagayan de Oro on March 29, 2015, via flight DG 7807 departing Cagayan de Oro at 10:10PM and arriving in Manila at 11:40PM. The flight from Manila via DG 7806 departs Manila at 8:00PM and arrives in Cagayan de Oro at 9:30PM. CEB's 55-strong fleet is comprised of 10 Airbus A319, 31 Airbus A320, 6 Airbus A330 and 8 ATR 72-500 aircraft. Between 2015 and 2021, CEB will take delivery of 7 more brand-new Airbus A320 and 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft. |
